OUR Laser Hair Removal
Ipl (intense pulsed light) and laser treatment gives permanent reduction of unwanted hair, destroying the hair root so that it can never re-grow. it is non-invasive, treatments are quick, and results are seen in just a few sessions. treatments also offer a long term solution for hormone related hair growth or large areas of unwanted hair.

How does ipl and laser hair removal work?
Laser and ipl systems release precisely controlled short bursts of light which are absorbed by melanin, the pigment in hair. this heats the hair and destroys the root to achieve long term hair reduction.

What happens during the treatment?
First of all, you'll be asked to put on some glasses to protect your eyes. for ipl treatments a layer of chilled gel is applied to the area to guide the light into the skin. laser treatments don't need the gel. the area will also be cooled to increase your comfort during treatment.

The light guide is placed on the skin, and a short pulse of light is released, targeting many hair follicles simultaneously. The light guide is then moved to the next area of skin, and the process is repeated until the whole area has been treated. The chilled gel is removed, the area is cooled, and you're done.

Aftercare
Sun avoidance is essential. Daily use of a high factor, broad spectrum sun block is strongly advised.

Will it work for me?
All hair colours and skin types can achieve results with ipl and laser hair removal, but the easiest to treat is dark hair on light skin. This is because darker hair contains more melanin and therefore heats up more easily. Fairer hair contains less melanin, and therefore doesn't heat up quite so well. At your free consultation, we'll advise you about how well we think your hair will respond. Grey or white hair has no melanin and therefore unfortunately cannot be treated.

Does it hurt?
No anaesthesia is required and most people find the discomfort quite manageable. People often describe it as feeling like a short hot pin prick, making it the preferred choice for hair removal. You'll get the chance to feel it for yourself When you have a small test patch treated.

What will i see after treatment?
The hair follicles are damaged by the treatment but the hairs remain in them. The hairs fall out after 1-3 weeks as the epidermis (top layer of skin) renews itself. During this time it will look as though the hairs are growing. Actually they are dead and just being pushed out.

Is it safe?
Skin can become red immediately after treatment, but most patients experience no side effects and any skin reaction usually disappears within just a few hours. Very rarely the skin may become lighter or darker, or a small blister may form. We always treat a small test area before your full treatments, so we can see exactly whether you'll have any reaction to the treatment.

How many treatments will i need?
Everyone's hair goes through a constant cycle of active growth, then a 'dormant period', then active growth again, and so on. The treatment only works on hair during its active growth phase, so it takes several treatments to catch all the hairs in their growth phase. Treatments are carried out every 2-8 weeks, depending on the site being treated. The number of treatments needed varies greatly according to hair and skin type, but typically six treatments will achieve maximum results.

How long does a treatment take?
Between 15 minutes and an hour, depending on the area being treated.

The Consultation Procedure
Before any treatment you will have a full consultation with one of our specialist team. This consultation identifies your own expectations and provides a clear and complete explanation of the treatment. Your medical history is taken to confirm suitability for treatment. A written informed consent is obtained and a test patch is treated to confirm there are no adverse reactions of the treatment.
