My salon was established in June 2002 and is situated in a private residential location. I specialise in permanent hair removal and treating problem skin, and also offer a number of beauty treatments.

Visiting my salon in the private quite discreet surroundings would appeal if you are visiting a salon for the first time or want to keep your treatment confidential, without the stress or hassle of visiting a High Street.

Hair Removal
Finding hairs in areas where you’d rather not have them can leave you feeling embarrassed and ashamed. The removal of unwanted hair is no more than a routine grooming procedure for many men and women. The Energist Ultra VPL (Variable Pulse Light) is the most advanced hair removal system. This quick, effective and safe treatment offers long lasting hair removal. The Ultra VPL treatment has been clinically proven to remove hairs from all parts of the face and body. What makes this System special?

The Ultra VPL (Variable Pulse Light) uses short, controlled pulses of filtered light to target and destroy hundreds of hair follicles with each pulse. It is a quick, effective and safe treatment for unwanted hair for both men and women. It has been clinically proven to effectively remove hairs from the face, and underarms, and also larger areas such as back, chest and legs.

How does it work?

Light is emitted from the Ultra VPL System the melanin in the hair absorbs this light and is heated to a temperature that permanently inhibits the hairs' growth.

Who can be treated?

There must be a concentration of colour in the hair to absorb the laser light. The treatment does not work on grey or blond hairs.

Treatment Process

After a full consultation a comprehensive treatment programme will be developed to match your needs and requirements. A patch test will be performed 24 hours before your first treatment. Is there anything I need to do prior to, or after, treatment?

It is advisable to stay out of the sun, and away from tanning beds, for at least 6 weeks prior to any treatment to ensure that your skin is as close as possible to its natural colour. You must ensure that all cosmetics are removed from the treatment area with a good cleanser and then allow the skin to settle. As the skin may be slightly more sensitive post-treatment it is recommended to use skin products developed for sensitive skin and again avoid the sun or tanning beds. More detail.

When will I see results?

Dependent upon the treatment performed and the area treated, results will be noticed after a series of treatments over a period of months. This is due to the body's natural hair growth cycles.

The following notes are important, please read them through carefully.
Before Treatment

Avoid exposure to sunlight and sun-beds for at least 2 weeks.
Do not pluck the hairs although shaving is permitted providing you leave 1-2mm growth prior to treatment.
Do not apply any self-tanning products for 2 weeks prior to treatment.
Regular intake of medications such Asprin, Ibuprofen or St Johns Wort may make your skin photosensitive which may cause pigmentation it is advisable to for at least six weeks prior to any treatment not to continue if possible.
If you are on a course of medication, it is advisable to bring along the data sheet enclosed with the medication to be checked for contra-indications prior to treatment.
Post Treatment Care Advice

The area treated can be red and warm for a few hours after treatment. If this is uncomfortable you can cool the area with a cold flannel/towel or some other means of cooling. It is advisable to avoid ice as this may cause an "ice burn".
Soothing preparations/gels can also be applied such as Aloe Vera witch hazel or Tea Tree oil. These help soothe the area but also have antiseptic properties.
If you can refrain from the use of make-up that day this will also give the chance for the skin to cool naturally.
Leave the hairs in the follicles for at least 4 days after the treatment. This will help reduce any chances of an opportunistic infection in the damaged follicle. The hairs will drop out naturally.
Try to use cleansing products that have been developed for sensitive skin for 2 days after treatment. Be gentle when dry or rubbing the area treated.
48 Hours After Treatment

Avoid restrictive clothing or excessive friction of the area.
Avoid applying Perfume, Body lotions, After Shave, Make-up or deodorant.
Avoid excessive exercise that may cause heat to build up in the area, or hot baths.
Avoid heat treatments such as saunas and steam rooms as well as Jacuzzis.
Avoid going swimming as chemicals in the water may cause a skin reaction.
Do not lie in the sun or use sun-beds as this activates the Melanin in the skin and can lead to pigmentation marks for at least 7 days.
Notify the clinic of any change in medical conditions, medication or pregnancy.
