The person behind London Laser clinics is Dr. Zambia Khader, a U.K. Consultant in Nuclear Medicine. Dr. Khader moved to U.K. in 1992 and completed Masters from University College London, worked in Southampton General Hospital as Senior Registrar and specialized in Nuclear Cardiology.

Being involved in Nuclear Cardiology she was involved as a Honorary Consultant and adviser to a leading Obesity Clinic in Europe. Having worked in Nuclear Medicine, it paved the way into Laser Technology. Through hard work and experience she owns 4 laser Clinics treating skin and hair problems using latest laser technology.

Being an Asian herself she was interested in a system that would suit Asian skin with no damage. Hirsuitism :- Male type excess growth of coarse dark terminal hair in females usually in lip, chin, chest, abdomen, and thighs is called Hirsuitsm.

CAUSE OF HIRSUITISM

1. PCOD (Polycystic Ovarian Disease) – irregular periods
2. Thyroid disorder
3. Androgen producing ovarian and adrenal tumours
4. Congenital adrenal hyperplasia
5. Idiopathic or functional – Healthy women with no abnormalities in ovarian and adrenal glands
6. Once hirsuitism is diagnosed, blood samples are taken for the assay of hormone like thyroid profile, testosterone, prolactin and ultrasound pelvis.


PROCEDURE – LASER TREATMENT

During the first session, the patient together with the hairs to be treated shall be evaluated. This is to pinpoint the area to be treated, the size, color and the number of hairs.

It is important to ask the patient, if she has already waxed in the previous month because the visible hair is less than the actual hairs. The area to be lased is shaved and then a cooling gel is applied. Safety goggles to be worn by patient during treatment.

Laser beam is directed on the prepared area. After lasing the area, a healing rose oil is applied. About 20-30% of hair is lost with each treatment, the subsequent hair growth is less. The patient is advised to come after 2 months for treatment.

Generally 6-8 treatment are required for laser permanent hair removal. In between treatment the patient is advised to avoid waxing plucking and electrolysis, bleaching. The should only do threading or use creams to remove the hairs. This procedure is the latest available treatment for hair removal.
