Laser Hair Removal
What is laser hair removal?
Laser hair removal is a well established method for treating unwanted or excessive hair. The laser produces a ray of high intensity light which gives off heat energy. This energy is absorbed differently depending on the type and colour of the body tissue it is applied to. Therefore it can destroy targeted cells at the root of the hair follicle to prevent further growth, whilst safely passing through surrounding skin leaving it unharmed.
What can it do?
This treatment can be used on various parts of the body and is especially effective with darker hair on light skin. Results vary depending on the part of the body and from person to person, but most people find they have drastically reduced hair growth after a course of treatments. Any remaining hair also tends to be finer and lighter, so is less noticeable.
What can't it do?
Hair has a three stage life cycle, starting with the growth stage. Only hairs that are in the growth stage will be affected by the laser. Therefore several treatments are recommended for significant and lasting effects and it is unlikely that 100% of hair will be removed permanently. Also, please note that red hairs are less responsive to laser hair treatment.

Preparation for treatment
As the laser works best with dark hairs on pale skin, we advise you let all tan fade before having a treatment. Similarly, avoid direct sun exposure for 7 days prior to treatment.
Hair growth above the skin surface will absorb the laser energy and therefore detract from it's ability to penetrate to the hair follicle. Therefore, we recommend you shave 24 hours prior to your treatment.
