IPL TREATMENTS

Our Oxford salon is registered with the Healthcare Commission for the provision of skin rejuvenation and permanent hair reduction treatments using the Harmony® Alma Lasers Aria system, a multi-application pulsed light technology system using Advanced Fluorescence Technology (AFT™). This state-of the-art technology offers clients fabulous results in skin rejuvenation as well as permanent hair reduction treatments. For all IPL treatments follow up treatments may be required. IPL PERMANENT HAIR REDUCTION is a painless and highly effective treatment for removing hair from unwanted areas. Because this treatment works by lasers absorbing the pigment in skin and hair it is not suitable for red, white or blonde hair and extremely dark skin tone. Prices below are per session. A minimum of 6 -12 sessions is usually required to remove all unwanted hair depending on hair and skin colour.

Messy, painful and ineffective hair removal methods are now a thing of the past. Today, pulsed light with AFT (Advanced Fluorescence Technology) treats unwanted hair with quick and safe bursts of light. Involving no downtime, you can continue with all your regular activities immediately after treatment. Best of all, this non-invasive and effective approach yields permanent hair reduction and long-term hair removal - anywhere on the body.

How does AFT pulsed light technology work? (the science bit!) During photoepilation, the pigment (melanin) within hair absorbs the light and converts it into heat. The hair transmits this heat into the hair follicle, which it destroys, without damaging the epidermis. Thus, the follicle cannot produce a new hair. A clinical breakthrough in hair removal, AFT's uniquely shaped pulses of light deliver heat only in the therapeutic range, precisely heating their target with little or no damage or discomfort. The result: safe, quick and effective hair removal that lasts.

Is it safe?
The AFT parameters are specially designed to match your skin type and hair type, assuring exceptionally exact and gentle treatments. Clinical trials conducted by leading authorities on pulsed light document its safety and effectiveness.

Does it hurt?
While pain tolerance is an individual matter, most people tolerate AFT pulsed light treatment well, and describe the sensation as a rubber band snap to the skin. The majority of patients require no anesthesia, though topical anesthetic is an option for more sensitive areas.

How long does an AFT pulsed light treatment take? Able to cover relatively large areas at high speed, AFT pulsed light treats numerous hairs with each light pulse. While this method allows for unusually rapid hair removal, the exact amount of time required is determined by the size of the area being treated. The underarm usually takes ten minutes, while the back or legs may require 45 minutes.

How many treatments are necessary?
All hair follicles go through periods of dormancy and growth. As AFT pulsed light only affects hair follicles that are actively producing hair at the time of treatment, resting follicles must enter the growth phase before they can be effectively treated. For this reason, treatment must be repeated until all hair follicles have passed through the growing phase. Clinical studies indicate that usually six or more treatments are needed at intervals of between one to three months. Your physician will advise you regarding the optimal number of treatments for you.

Who can be treated?
Men and women (over age of 18) have been successfully treated. For best results, AFT pulsed light hair removal treatments are customized according to skin color, hair texture and body site.
